Cynthia FLEURY-PERKINS

Philosopher, psychoanalyst and professor

Cynthia Fleury-Perkins, Professor of Humanities and Health at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, is also an associate professor at the Ecole des Mines (PSL/Mines-Paristech), holder of the Chair of Philosophy of the Paris Psychiatry and Neurosciences GHU. Her research focuses on the tools of democratic regulation and the principle of individuation in the context of a social state under the rule of law.

She is the author of several books including Dialoguer avec l'Orient (PUF, 2003), Les pathologies de la démocratie (Fayard, 2005; Livre de poche 2009) and La fin du courage (Fayard, 2010; Livre de poche, 2011), Les irremplaçables (Gallimard, 2015, Folio 2018), Ci-gît l'amer. Guérir du ressentiment (Gallimard, 2020). She taught for a long time at the Ecole Polytechnique and at Sciences Po (Paris). She was president of the NGO Europanova, organizer of the Etats Généraux de l'Europe. She is currently vice-president.

She is the youngest member of the CCNE (Comité consultatif national d'éthique), which she joined in 2013. She is also a founding member of the European network of women philosophers of UNESCO. As a psychoanalyst, she is a sponsor of ICCARRE (protocol of intermittent treatment of AIDS) and was a member of the emergency medical-psychological cell of the SAMU (CUMP-Necker). She is a member of the ethics committee of the Pasteur Institute.
