The Covid-19 epidemic has alerted us to the fragility of life. It has reminded us of our obligations to take care of all forms of life, and to stop offending it with destructive and imbalance-generating consumption patterns. To do this, let's start by transforming our vision of what is socially valued today, as recommended by the astrophysicist Aurélien Barrau: owning a sports car, spending your vacations in Bali, consuming without counting the cost, are behaviors that are bound to become obsolete and badly perceived by society.
But care is also "the foundation of our humanism", as the philosopher Cynthia Fleury explains in her latest book. Yet in multi-speed societies, faced with economic, digital, and social pressures that are increasingly strong on individuals, "bodies take it in but do not necessarily have the means to resist." This leads to strategies of "bypassing care".
In order to take care of the living, let's start by taking care of ourselves and of humanity. Let us introduce more brotherhood in our relationships with others. This is the condition for reconciling ourselves with other forms of life.
