Alain BAZOT holds a DEA in public economic law from the University of Burgundy. He joined the UFC-Que Choisir association in 1977, and became Administrator of the UFC-Que Choisir of Dijon three years later. He is co-founder of the UFC-Que Choisir of Burgundy which he presides from 2001 to 2003. At the national level, he joined the Federal Bureau in 2001 as Treasurer, then Vice President. President and Director of publications of UFC-Que Choisir since 2003, Alain Bazot then became a member of the Executive of BEUC (European Consumers' Organisation).

He is notably a member of the Conseil national de la Consommation (CNC), the Conseil supérieur de la propriété littéraire et artistique (CSPLA), the Conseil national de la transition écologique (CNTE), the Commission d'évaluation et de contrôle de la médiation de la consommation (CECMC), the Conseil économique, social et environnemental (CESE) as well as the Commission des Clauses Abusives (CCA).

In parallel to his activities within UFC-Que Choisir, he was Economic and Social Councillor of Burgundy from 1989 to 1995, and Municipal Councillor of Sennely in the Loiret from 2001 to 2008. Director of studies at the Centre de capacité en droit d'Auxerre until 2008, he was also a lecturer at the University of Burgundy until 2018. Alain BAZOT is also the winner of the 2006 Regulator of the Year award, given by Le Nouvel Economiste, and the author of a book entitled "Consommateur si tu savais" published by Plon in 2007.
