Sarah VITALE
Member of the Lycées en transition organisation
Sarah Vitale is seventeen years old and is a senior at the ‘Lycée International de Colomiers’. She is in a bilingual Spanish section and takes classes mostly focused on literature, such as geopolitics, English literature, economic and social sciences.
She has always been very involved with both class life and school. As she became more and more interested in current affairs, she developed a real desire to improve daily life and the future, and this desire pointed her to the global topic of the environment. She first started noticing these issues with the environment when she was younger. As a child, she can remember seeing lots of snow, but little by little she noticed that the winters became warmer; and the seasonal cycles began to change. The sentence "no, but there are no more seasons" seems to have become a reality.
As she grew up, she became interested in the environment, as it is something that concerns everyone. The more she learned about this topic the more she was inspired to make a change. She couldn’t allow herself to sit by and do nothing, she wants to do her part. This led to her becoming an eco-delegate at school, which gave her the ability to take part in a clothing drive organised by Lycées en Transition (LET). Since she is entering her final year, the torch has been passed to her, and to her great delight, she was able to become an active member of this association. On a daily basis she does as much for the environment as she can, even if it ends up being something small, and she tries to encourage her friends and family to do the same. In the long run, she would like to see the people who speak out in support of the environment taken seriously, and that their words and activism can have a real impact on people and how they lead their daily lives.
