Michel DESVIGNE

Michel DESVIGNE

Landscaper

Michel Desvigne is a landscape architect known for the quality of his work and the relevance of his research on the development of cities and public spaces, in light of the evolution of urban uses and current environmental issues.

His work is characterized by the updating of historical concepts such as the American park system (F.L. Olmsted), and is also based on the definition of more contemporary concepts, such as the notions of prefiguration landscape, amplified geography and edge. All of his reflections were awarded the Grand Prix de l'Urbanisme in 2011. Based in Paris, the MDP agency has been working for over thirty years in France and abroad on projects of various types and scales: from squares and public gardens to strategic plans and territorial master plans.

Since 2010, MDP has been responsible for the planning and implementation of the public spaces of the Paris-Saclay cluster, the master plan and the rehabilitation of the public spaces of Euralens as well as the strategic plan of the Chaîne des parcs de l'Artois.

Other projects include the redevelopment of the Southampton quay in Le Havre, which was awarded the Equerre d'argent 2020, and the rehabilitation of the Albert Khan gardens in Paris, which will be inaugurated in 2022. Having taught at Harvard and invested in numerous operations in the United States, Michel Desvigne has taken on the original role of a bridge between European and North American urban cultures. The cross-analysis of these contrasting cultures fuels his practice and his teaching.
