Eric SCOTTO

Founder et CEO of Akuo

Éric Scotto is a committed entrepreneur, combining his talents as an investor with his concern for the climate. After ten years in information technology, two years in finance and a first success in business creation, he created Perfect Wind and built a first wind farm of 54 MW in 2004. Perfect Wind became one of the leaders in the production of electricity from renewable energies and was acquired by the world leader in wind energy Iberdrola in 2006.

In 2007, he co-founded Akuo, a global independent producer and developer of renewable energy. The company is active across the entire value chain, including project development, financing, construction and operation. Akuo has invested more than €2.6 billion to build a portfolio of over 1.3 GW of assets in operation or under construction and a 5 GW development pipeline. With more than 350 employees, the Group, headquartered in Paris, France, is present in more than 15 countries around the world.

In 2010, the Group inaugurated its first Agrinergie® power plant on Reunion Island, which combines solar energy production with environmentally friendly agriculture. Since this conclusive experience, Eric Scotto has continued to develop renewable energy plants (wind farms, solar power plants, hydraulic power plants) throughout the world with the ambition of offering energy packages adapted to the territories and coupled with storage solutions. In 2017 Akuo set up its own participatory financing platform, AkuoCoop. This tool allows Akuo to further increase its collaboration with all the actors of the territories. In 2011, Eric Scotto participated in the creation of the Akuo Foundation.

The Foundation extends the values of the Akuo group to the benefits of disadvantaged communities. With the mission of providing access to essential needs such as energy, education, water, and health, it designs and deploys solutions to the challenges of climate change through its sustainable development education and biodiversity protection actions. In 2019, Eric Scotto co-founds Sunstyle International SAS, a joint venture between Akuo and Sunstyle AG. The launch of the manufacturing of solar tiles in Châtellerault in the Vienne region was made official on October 15, 2020, in the presence of the French Minister for Ecological Transition, Barbara Pompili. Today, the development of Sunstyle tiles continues around the world, they are installed on the French Pavilion at the Dubai World Expo, on Google's Mountain View headquarters in San Fransisco, and are integrated into major architectural projects that will see the light of day in the coming years.

In April 2021, he will be co-directing with Arnaud Leroy, CEO of ADEME, the writing of "Les énergies renouvelables pour les Nuls" (Renewable energies for Dummies) published by Éditions First, a book to help understand today's energy issues.
