Cécile RENOUARD

Cécile RENOUARD

Religious sister, Philosopher, Co-founder and president of the Transition Campus

Cécile Renouard is a professor of philosophy at the Centre Sèvres (Jesuit faculty in Paris) and teaches at the Ecole des Mines de Paris and at ESSEC. She is the scientific director of the research program "CODEV - Companies and Development", of the ESSEC Iréné Institute, where she studies the implementation by private actors of their ethical and political responsibilities.

Within the framework of partnerships with companies (Total, Danone, Veolia, Meeschaert, etc.), NGOs (CCFD) and public development agencies (AFD), she has been working since 2006 on the measurement of the contribution of companies to the quality of social and ecological links in different territories (Nigeria, India, Indonesia, Mexico, France). In particular, with Gaël Giraud and other researchers, she has built a relational capacity indicator (RCI). Her current work also focuses on the ethical and spiritual resources, both individual and collective, that promote a justice of the commons.

She is co-founder and president of the Campus de la Transition, an institution created in late 2017 to train students and professionals in economic models consistent with the ecological and social transition in the territories. A graduate of ESSEC, she also holds a canonical license in theology (Centre Sèvres), a doctorate in political philosophy (EHESS) and a habilitation to direct research in philosophy. She is a member of the Catholic congregation of the Religious of the Assumption. She is a member of the Scientific Council of the Foundation for Nature and Mankind and was a director of the French Development Agency (2014-2017).
