Executive President of the National natural history Museum in Paris
Bruno DAVID is executive President of the National natural history Museum in France (Muséum national d’histoire naturelle) since 2015. Formerly he was CNRS director of research, founder and former director of the laboratory Biogéosciences (Dijon), which promotes researches at the interface between life and earth sciences. Originally trained as a palaeontologist, he became a biologist, his works focusing on evolution of living as well as fossil forms. He participated in several oceanographic cruises in Antarctica and around the world, and dove with the submersible “Nautile”.
At the head of the Muséum, he launched the publication of Manifestos, small books published every year to promote the voice of natural history in the way our societies are thinking themselves. Since September 2021, he produces a program on the national radio France Culture about natural history, life and culture, currently named Le pourquoi du comment : science).
He is, notably, the author of : À l’aube de la sixième extinction / At the dawn of the 6th extinction (Grasset 2021); Le Monde vivant / The living world (Grasset 2022); La biodiversité de crise en crise / Biodiversity from crisis to crisis (Albin Michel 2015).
