35. Should I stay or should I go: how to live with purpose?

Saturday, November 26 • 09h30 > 11h00

75% of young people find the future scary. 45% suffer from eco-anxiety on a daily basis. 41% of young people would rather quit and be unemployed than be in a job that makes them unhappy. Suicide is the leading cause of death in more than 100 countries around the world among 15-24 year olds.

Quest for meaning, imperative of usefulness, sense of urgency, need to learn, to act. The imperatives of the generation that is invading the job market - and perhaps of all generations if we look at the Great Resignation phenomenon.

There is no denying the impact that graduation speeches by students from top schools have had in recent months. The courage of students, for whom all paths seem possible, to speak out and invite their peers to desert. Or rather, to branch out: to leave the system and make their own way. A path that does not destroy, a path that sounds right. Others call to engage not outside but precisely within the system, to transform it from within. Opposing, criticizing, judging, it's easy.

Let's listen to them instead. Let's listen to those whom everything seems to oppose. With this session of 1h30, we wish to show all these shades of grey, to demonstrate that all commitments have meaning and power. Who are we to judge the how, as long as we act?

"When you start acting, hope is everywhere", reminds the young Greta Thunberg.

We will need people everywhere, inside and outside the system. Members and switchers, activists, employees, politicians, entrepreneurs. All with a real intergenerational cohesion.

This session will be interpreted and punctuated by short interventions and life stories.
