In 2019, a report by the think tank The Shift Project pointed out the deficiencies of higher education on energy and climate issues. It questioned the notion of progress, which must be rethought to move to a more restricted world. As for the engineering profession, it must include more low tech and less high tech.
Surfing on this dynamic, the collective "Pour un réveil écologique" (For an ecological awakening) suggests tools to train students on ecological issues and help them choose committed employers. Before the summer of 2022, students at AgroParisTech, HEC and other schools denounced the lack of commitment of their institutions, urging them to change their teaching to be up to speed with the transitions.
Awareness of transition issues is also being raised at other levels. The government has committed to training 25,000 civil servants. Finally, starting at school, children can rediscover contact with nature and living things. A learning revolution is underway.
