A majority of French people aspire to change their economic model, according to the GreenFlex barometer of responsible consumption in 2020. And they expect companies to innovate towards models that are more respectful of resources and the environment. Here are a few examples.
The first is the regenerative company, which puts life and living beings at the center of every action and decision, and which improves the capacity of socio-ecological systems to deliver the services they provide. The economy of functionality and cooperation, which substitutes the sale of an integrated solution for that of goods or services, illustrates this economic revolution. Selling thermal comfort instead of boilers, cleanliness instead of cleaning hours.
Another model, which is part of the social and solidarity economy, is the mutualist company. Well adapted to contemporary challenges, it gives priority to the well-being of its members rather than to profitability prospects. It is an important asset for the long-term financing of ecological and social projects.
The mission-based company, a new model of governance, can participate in a revolution of capitalism. New business models are urgently neede. They are solutions that can accelerate the transformation of the global economic system to bring it into a new civilizational era that is sustainable for life and society.
