1. Where is life headed ?

Friday, November 25 • 09h30 > 11h00

Dance opening with STEPS FOR A CHANGE.

Among the many lessons of the Covid-19 epidemic, one concerns our position in the natural world: our health depends both on the health of the environment and on our behavior toward the wildlife. The epidemic has also taught us a lesson in humility: as insignificant as it may be, the virus and its variants have made a mockery of our technologies, and have underlined our collective inability to control them. Finally, there is another lesson to be learned: the weeks of lockdown reminded us of the value of living in society, and of our deep nature as social beings.

Fundamentally optimistic, the human species believes itself to be a demiurge, the master of the world. It does not want to see that it too can be threatened by mass extinction. The last two years have proven the contrary: will we be able to take advantage of this to change our behavior and become more respectful of the life around us?

Thirty years later, and revived by Greta Thunberg's commitment, her warning has become reality, and we are living and feeling the collapse of natural ecosystems with more emotion: has the time of the Symbiocene, a concept dear to the philosopher Glenn Albrecht, come?
